Despite endorsing former President Donald Trump and his policies, one previous primary candidate has not been asked to join him on stage.
Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley said Sunday she has not been asked to campaign on behalf of Trump.
“He knows I’m on standby,” Haley said in an interview with Margaret Brennan on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning. “I talked to him back in June. He’s aware that I’m ready if he ever needs me to do that.”
She also said she would be “happy to be helpful” if Trump does ask for her assistance.
“That’s his choice. He can, you know, whatever he decides to do with his campaign, he can do that,” Haley said. “But when I called him back in June, I told him I was supportive. I think the teams have talked to each other a little bit, but there hasn’t been an ask as of yet.”
Haley was harsh toward Trump in her run during the presidential primary, but she eventually appeared at the Republican National Convention and urged her delegates to back Trump instead.
However, her answer was tepid when she was asked if Trump is a good candidate.
“If I thought Biden or Trump were great candidates, I wouldn’t have run for president,” Haley said. “I ran because I thought I could do a better job.”
Nonetheless, she said, she is steadfastly against Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Do I agree with his style? Do I agree with his approach? Do I agree with his communications? No. When I look at the policies and how they affect my family, and how I think they’re going to affect the country, that’s where I go back and I look at the differences,” Haley said. “I mean, these are the candidates we have been given.”
“There are no perfect administrations here, by any means, but Trump was definitely stronger when it came to national security, as opposed to the Harris administration,” Haley said.
Nimrod(a) ended any aspirations she had during this campaign for the nomination. She is famously unloyal whether to her husband or to the guy who appointed her UN Ambassador.
