Rep. Ilhan Omar erupted during Donald Trump’s State of the Union, calling the president a “murderer” after he blasted Somali-linked fraud in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Democrat, seated beside Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, sneered as Trump accused Democrats of gutting Homeland Security funding and enabling chaos at the border.

“As we speak, Democrats in this chamber have cut off all funding for the Department of Homeland Security. It’s all cut off; all cut off,” Trump declared.

He accused Democrats of engineering another shutdown and warned it was crippling the agency tasked with protecting Americans from terrorists and violent criminals.

Moments later, shouting broke out from the Democratic side of the chamber as cameras turned toward Omar.

“Tonight, I’m demanding the full and immediate restoration of all funding for border security, Homeland Security of the United States, and also for helping people clean up their snow,” Trump continued.

“We have no money because of the Democrats, and it would be nice. We’d love to give you a hand at cleaning it up, but you gave no money. Nobody’s getting paid. It’s a shame.”

Trump then framed border security as a core duty of government.

“The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”

Republicans stood in support while several Democrats remained seated.

Tensions spiked again when Trump called for ending sanctuary cities and penalizing officials who block deportations.

“Isn’t that a shame? You should be ashamed of yourself not standing up. You should be ashamed of yourself,” Trump stated.

“That is why I’m also asking you to end deadly sanctuary cities that protect the criminals and enact serious penalties for public officials who blocked the removal of criminal aliens.”

He noted that many of the illegal immigrants being protected were “drug lords” and murderers.

“They’re blocking the removal of these people out of our country,” he noted. “And you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Omar could be heard shouting back as Trump pivoted to what he called massive fraud tied to Minnesota.

“When it comes to the corruption that is plundering America, there has been no more stunning example than Minnesota—where members of the Somali community have pillaged an estimated $19 billion from the American taxpayer,” Trump continued.

“The Somali pirates who ransack Minnesota remind us that there are large parts of the world where bribery, corruption and lawlessness are the norm, not the exception,” he added.

“Importing these cultures through unrestricted immigration and open borders brings those problems right here to the USA.”

During that portion of the speech, Omar repeatedly shouted, “You have killed Americans,” and at one point called the president a “murderer.”

“You’re a liar,” she yelled as Trump pressed forward.

Tlaib also joined the outbursts, shouting that “Alex wasn’t a criminal,” appearing to reference Alex Pretti, who was shot and killed by federal agents during unrest in Minneapolis.

Gallery observers reported uncertainty over whether Omar used additional language directed at the president.

Omar and Tlaib eventually walked out while Trump described a raid on Caracas that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.

Other Democrats staged visible protests throughout the address.

Rep. Norma Torres of California held a sign displaying photos of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, two Americans killed during immigration enforcement actions.

Rep. Al Green of Texas stood up early in the speech holding a sign that read, “BLACK PEOPLE AREN’T APES.”

Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas approached Green to question the sign, and Sen. Markwayne Mullin attempted to grab it before Green pulled it back.

Security escorted Green from the chamber as Republicans applauded. Rep. Pat Fallon stepped between Nehls and Green as tensions rose.

After leaving the floor, Green said his protest referred to a deleted clip he claimed Trump had posted depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes.

“The President has depicted Black people, two prominent black people, the President and the First Lady, as apes. That cannot go unnoticed,” Green reportedly told The Hill.

“For too long now, we have allowed all of his dastardly deeds to go unnoticed because he’ll get engaged with another dastardly deed. I refuse to let this go unnoticed,”

“It’s an insult, not only to the President and the First Lady, but to me as a Black person… and I wanted him to know that somebody has the courage to tell him to his face, and that’s what I did,” he commented

Green added that being removed from the chamber did not surprise him.

“But, you know, on some issues, it’s better to stand alone than not stand at all,” he said.

This was not Green’s first confrontation during a presidential address. A similar occurrence happened atTrump’s speech to Congress last March, Green rose with his walking cane and claimed that the president had no mandate before being removed at the direction of Speaker Mike Johnson.

Amid the clashes, Trump also took aim at insider trading on Capitol Hill.

He urged lawmakers to “pass the Stop Insider Trading Act without delay” and called for preventing members of Congress from profiting off confidential information.

“Let’s also ensure that members of Congress cannot corruptly profit from using insider information,” Trump said.

Members of both parties stood in response. “They stood up for that. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. Did Nancy Pelosi stand up — if she’s here? Doubt it,” Trump added.

The Pelosi family’s financial disclosures have drawn scrutiny from critics pushing for stricter limits on congressional stock trading.

The Stop Insider Trading Act, introduced by Rep. Bryan Steil, would bar members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks and would require advance public notice before stock sales, expanding beyond the 2012 STOCK Act’s reporting rules.
