Clinton Warns October Surprise Will ‘Distort’ Perception Of Harris

In a recent interview with “Firing Line” host Margaret Hoover, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issued a stark warning regarding an impending “October surprise” that she believes will be used to “distort and pervert” Vice President Kamala Harris as the 2024 election cycle heats up.

“There will be concerted efforts to distort and pervert Kamala Harris, who she is, what she stands for, what she’s done,” Clinton remarked.

Drawing from her own experience during the 2016 campaign, Clinton pointed to the infamous “pizzagate” conspiracy theory, a baseless claim that spread widely during the final days of the 2016 presidential race.

“I mean, look at the crazy story about me running a child trafficking operation out of the basement of a pizzeria,” Clinton said, as laughter erupted from the audience.

However, Clinton was quick to remind the crowd of the seriousness of the harassment and threats the establishment and surrounding businesses endured. “Don’t laugh,” she warned. “It was a huge story.”

This conspiracy alleged that Clinton was involved in a child trafficking ring operating out of Comet Ping Pong pizzeria.

“It was a huge story. And it got one young man in North Carolina to get in his car with his, you know, assault rifle and drove up to liberate these nonexistent children and shoot up a pizzeria in Washington, D.C,” she explained.

The widespread false claim led then 28-year-old Edgar Maddison Welch to shoot up the Washington, D.C. restaurant in a misguided attempt to “rescue” nonexistent children.

“This is dangerous stuff,” Clinton said. “It starts online often on the dark web. It migrates. It’s picked up by the pro-Trump media. It’s then reported on by everybody else, which makes sure it has about 100 percent coverage, and people believe it.”

She also predicted that misinformation would likely saturate the “digital airwaves” leading up to the election, especially through the proliferation of social media.

Clinton also warned of potential foreign interference, calling out Russia, Iran, and China as nations that could amplify disinformation in an effort to sway the outcome of the election.

According to Clinton, the media has a responsibility to provide consistent narrative about “the danger that Trump poses” in order to counter these tactics.

The former Secretary of State believes the there will be a “full court press” against Harris in October.

“I don’t know what it’s going to be, but it will be something, and we’ll have to work very, very hard to make sure that it is exposed as the lie that it is,” she added.

In another interview on BBC Radio 4’s “Today” program, Clinton praised President Joe Biden’s decision to step aside for Kamala Harris to lead the Democratic ticket in the 2024 election.

“Once that debate happened, he could not recover, and he did the right thing,” she stated.
Clinton also criticized former President Donald Trump’s policy proposals, particularly his promise of mass deportations if he wins a second term.

“He is going to have a military presence to achieve his goals,” Clinton remarked. “If you look a certain way, if you talk a certain way, you will be subject to these Draconian measures.”

Despite her criticism of Trump and his policies, Clinton also acknowledged the weaknesses within her own party.

She conceded that Democrats have not always been effective in communicating their message, especially to those who feel left behind by the economy.

“I think our problem is frankly we are not the most effective messengers,” she said, reflecting on the disconnect between the Democratic Party’s policies and the concerns of working-class voters.

“About what we see and what we’re trying to do to address these real and legitimate concerns that people have. I recognize and accept my share of the responsibility.”
