A Democratic senator in Kentucky is in hot water after suggesting that pedophiles could be swayed from abusing kids if they’re allowed to possess sex dolls that resemble children.
On Thursday, Kentucky lawmakers held a Senate Judiciary committee hearing to discuss House Bill 207, which would outlaw ownership of such dolls.
The bill would make possession, importing, or promoting the fetish dolls felonies, which would see offenders put behind bars for one to ten years.
During the hearing, Senator Karen Berg presented a shocking defense for allowing “minor attracted persons” (MAPs) to possess the deplorable silicone likenesses of children.

Berg claimed that she was “completely unfamiliar” with the subject matter of the hearing until the night before, when she reluctantly Googled the term.
After searching the topic, she discovered that studies have actually been conducted about their use as crime deterrents.
“The limited amount of research that’s done on these dolls, guys, suggests that they actually — for people who are attracted to minors — that these dolls actually decrease their proclivity to go out and attack children,” she told the committee.
Berg claimed that “MAP’s” disgusting use of the dolls behind closed doors gives them “a release,” that makes them “less likely” to go after children.
“What was interesting is the research did not support the same conclusions for people who were adult attracted using dolls, that did not diminish their proclivity to engage other people,” she added.
Berg noted that the studies were “not very good” or “comprehensive,” but she still referred to them as “conclusive.”
The Republican Party of Kentucky immediately blasted Berg for her pitch, and shared footage of fellow committee members looking insanely uncomfortable as she explained her findings.
“This might be the most disturbing thing you see today,” the official account captioned the video on X, formerly Twitter.
“There is no place for this disturbing and unbelievable idea in Kentucky,” they added in a follow-up post the same day.
Berg quickly realized the error in her ways and reversed course by voting in favor of the bill, which will advance to the Senate after the rest of the committee unanimously did the same.
Berg released a statement to “clarify” the comments she made at the hearing.

“I voted in favor of House Bill (HB) 207 to outlaw [the] dolls, a stance that aligns with my commitment to safeguarding the well-being of our youth and holding perpetrators accountable.”
