Vice President JD Vance declared there is “no way” President Donald Trump will drag America into another endless Middle East war following the strikes on Iran.
Vance made the case during a Fox News interview with Jesse Waters, marking his first appearance since U.S. and Israeli forces launched joint attacks over the weekend. He argued that this mission has a fixed target and a clear stopping point.
“What’s so different about this is that the president has clearly defined what he wants to accomplish,” Vance said.
“There’s just no way that Donald Trump is going to allow this country to get into a multi-year conflict with no clear end in sight, and no clear objective,” he continued.

Vance contrasted Trump’s approach with prior administrations from both parties. He said this operation centers on one goal and one goal only.
“What is different about President Trump, and it’s frankly different from Republicans and Democrats of the past, is that he’s not going to let his country go to war unless there’s a clearly defined objective. He’s defined that objective as Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and has to commit long term to never try to rebuild their nuclear capability,” he explained.
“It’s pretty clear. It’s pretty simple, and I think that means that we’re not going to get into the problems that we’ve had with Iraq and Afghanistan,” the Vice President added.
Trump announced Saturday that the United States and Israel had begun coordinated strikes aimed at destroying Iran’s missile stockpiles. He later confirmed the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The president has described the campaign as moving ahead of schedule and told reporters it could last four to five weeks.
"Today, the United States military continues to carry out large scale combat operations in Iran to eliminate the grave threats posed to America by this terrible terrorist regime" says @POTUS on Operation Epic Fury.

He has also warned that additional American casualties could occur as fighting continues. Six U.S. servicemembers have died during the operation so far.
On Monday, Trump lashed out at Democrats who denounced Operation Epic Fury. “The Radical Left Democrats, a Party that has completely lost its way, are complaining bitterly about the very necessary and important attack, by the United States and Israel, on Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“What most people understand is that they are only complaining BECAUSE I DID IT and, if I didn’t do it, they would be screaming — Why didn’t ‘TRUMP’ attack Iran, he should do it, IMMEDIATELY? There’s nothing surprising about this!” he added.
“The fact is, whatever I do, [the Democrats] will be on the opposite side,” Trump wrote in the same post.
🚨 VENEZUELAN DICTATOR NICOLAS MADURO IN U.S. CUSTODY 🚨 Do you AGREE Trump made America STRONG again??? ➡️➡️➡️ TAKE THE FREEDOM POLL NOW and stand with President Trump!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
“These people are SICK, CRAZY, and DEMENTED, but America, despite them all, is now BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE,” he continued.
Trump told CNN earlier in the day that a “big wave” of the operation has yet to come. Asked about the timeline, he responded, “I don’t want to see it go on too long. I always thought it would be four weeks. And we’re a little ahead of schedule.”
Democrats have labeled the strikes an illegal war and moved to block further action without congressional approval.
Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., joined Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., in preparing a House resolution to force a vote on war powers. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., announced a similar effort in the Senate.
“I am opposed to this War. This is not ‘America First.’ When Congress reconvenes, I will work with @RepRoKhanna to force a Congressional vote on war with Iran,” Massie wrote on X.
“The Constitution requires a vote, and your Representative needs to be on record as opposing or supporting this war.”
Khanna warned that backing the operation could carry political consequences.
“It would be a disastrous vote for any Democrat — to vote for Donald Trump’s war in the Middle East,” he said during an appearance on NBC News’s “Meet the Press.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries accused Trump of sidelining lawmakers.
“Donald Trump chose intentionally not to come before Congress, which is why we’re going to force this vote on a war powers resolution and make sure that we do everything we can to constrain him at this point in time,” Jeffries said on CNN.
“There’s nowhere in the United States Constitution where it says that we are to be the policemen and women of the world. I mean, that’s the reality,” he added.
Yes, we are the leaders of the free world at this particular point in time, but there’s a role for the United States to play in terms of diplomacy, building coalitions, and none of that was done in this particular instance.”
Speaker Mike Johnson rejected calls to curb presidential authority mid-operation.
“I think the idea that we would move a War Powers Act vote right now, I mean, it will be forced to the floor, but the idea that we would take the ability of our commander in chief, the president, take his authority away right now to finish this job, is a frightening prospect to me,” Johnson told reporters.
“It’s dangerous, and I am certainly hopeful, and I believe we do have the votes to put it down. That’s going to be a good thing for the country and our security and stability,” he said.
Johnson also wrote on X that Congress’s bipartisan Gang of Eight received detailed briefings earlier in the week warning that military action might become necessary to protect American troops and citizens in Iran.
He defended Trump’s authority to act without a full congressional vote. “It’s not a declaration of war. It’s not something that the president was required, because it’s defensive in nature and in design and in necessity, to come to Congress and get a vote first,” Johnson said.
“So, this is why the commander in chief of our armed forces has the latitude that any commander in chief, any president always has, because they have a set of information that is sensitive, timely and urgent, and they have to be able to act upon it,” he noted. “They did that.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio reinforced the administration’s justification ahead of a closed-door briefing.
“There absolutely was an imminent threat, and the imminent threat was that we knew that if Iran was attacked, and we believed they would be attacked, that they would immediately come after us,” Rubio told reporters at the Capitol.
Rubio cited a Defense Department assessment indicating Iran planned a strike that would have caused “more casualties and more deaths.”
“We went proactively in a defensive way to prevent them from inflicting higher damage,” Rubio said.
He added that within an hour of the initial U.S. strike on the leadership compound, Iranian missile forces in both the north and south had already been activated and pre-positioned to launch.

Iran has been holding the civilized world hostage through a nuclear threat blackmail for 47 years. Seven U.S. presidents have been proven useless cowards with regard to Iran. The time for playing silly games with Iran came when the U.S. and Israel took the bull by the nose ring and attacked Iran’s nuclear enrichment centers. What is so shocking is that of all the countries that have benefitted by that attack, not one has seen fit to join the U.S.. and Israel in making sure Iran can never threaten anybody again. Iran was never under any threat from anybody to require a nuclear arsenal. THEY ONLY WANT A NUCLEAR ARSENAL FOR OFFENSIVE REASONS. They took a wealthy, prosperous and progressive nation and took it backward about 200 years. Iran was never in any danger of being overtaken by any of it’s neighbors. They want nuclear so they can destroy Israel and that cannot be allowed to happen. Nobody can deny if they get a nuclear warhead they will attack any country that doesn’t follow their alleged religion.
