President Donald Trump publicly called out his own Attorney General Pam Bondi, accusing her of failing to secure prosecutions against political opponents he labeled as “guilty.”
The attack came Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he shared what appeared to be a private message directed at Bondi, blasting her as “all talk, no action.”
In the message, Trump declared he had reviewed more than 30 critical posts aimed at Bondi and demanded urgent results.
The president named former FBI Director James Comey, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, and New York Attorney General Letitia James, insisting “they’re all guilty as hell.”
“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, “same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.” Then we almost… pic.twitter.com/A3FgRAvTa7

Trump pressed Bondi to stop delaying, warning that the Justice Department’s inaction was “killing our reputation and credibility.”
“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social message.
“Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, Leticia [sic]??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.’”
Trump’s main criticism centered on political figures he says fueled years of political persecution.
Comey was fired as FBI director in 2017 while leading the Russia investigation, an inquiry Trump has long ridiculed as a hoax.
Schiff, a California Democrat, led the 2019 impeachment probe tied to Ukraine aid, while Letitia James pursued a 2022 civil fraud case that ended with a $454 million judgment against the Trump Organization, now under appeal.
The president’s fury did not stop with Bondi. He also lashed out at Erik Siebert, the outgoing U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, claiming Siebert declined to pursue cases against Trump’s rivals.
According to Trump, Siebert refused to prosecute James for alleged mortgage fraud and ignored an accusation that Comey threatened him in a social media post.
Trump wrote that Siebert was “fired,” even though Siebert had publicly said he resigned.
“He even lied to the media and said he quit, and that we had no case. No, I fired him, and there is a GREAT CASE, and many lawyers, and legal pundits, say so,” Trump wrote.
In the same series of posts, Trump proposed attorney Lindsey Halligan as Siebert’s replacement.
Halligan, a member of the White House counsel, has been one of Trump’s defenders in ongoing legal battles.
“Lindsey Halligan is a really good lawyer, and likes you, a lot,” Trump told Bondi, before again urging immediate action.
Pam Bondi is doing a GREAT job as Attorney General of the United States. She is very careful, very smart, loves our Country, but needs a tough prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, like my recommendation, Lindsey Halligan, to get things moving. What we don’t need is a…

“We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”
Roughly thirty minutes later, Trump confirmed he would nominate Halligan as U.S. attorney for Virginia’s eastern district.
He labeled Siebert a “Democrat Endorsed ‘Republican’” and promised Halligan would “be Fair, Smart, and will provide, desperately needed, JUSTICE FOR ALL!”

After his initial outburst, Trump softened his tone toward Bondi, posting that she was “doing a GREAT job” as attorney general.
He insisted she remained smart and dedicated, but stressed she needed a tough prosecutor like Halligan in Virginia to move prosecutions forward.
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer warned that Trump’s pressure on the Justice Department posed a threat to American democracy.
“I think it’s a real threat to democracy,” Schumer said during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
He praised the Justice Department’s history of impartiality, saying, “They went after law violators without fear or favor.”
Schumer accused Trump of turning the department into a weapon for personal gain.
“What Trump is doing is he’s turning it,” Schumer continued. “He’s firing anybody who doesn’t seem to be part of his acolytes, and he’s turning it into an instrument that goes after his enemies, whether they’re guilty or not — and most of them are not guilty at all — and that helps his friends.”
“This is the path to a dictatorship,” he continued. “That’s what dictatorships do. It is so very, very frightening and damaging to our republic.”
Schumer vowed to “legally” resist Trump’s efforts. “There are going to be legal ways to fight this. We will try to find legislative ways to fight this, but also the American people should let their representatives know how terrible this is to democracy,” he said.
He noted that even some conservatives had pushed back and urged more Republicans to speak out.
On Saturday, Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sent a letter to Trump, criticizing Republicans for steering the country toward a government shutdown as the September 30 deadline approached.
They accused the GOP of advancing a partisan spending bill that would slash Medicaid and Medicare, raise costs, and force healthcare facilities to shut down nationwide.

“Republicans will bear responsibility for another painful government shutdown because of the refusal of GOP congressional leadership to even talk with Democrats,” Schumer and Jeffries wrote.
They demanded a direct meeting with the president, warning that millions of Americans would be harmed.
During his CNN interview, Schumer reiterated that Trump had refused to negotiate.
“Right now it‘s a Trump shutdown because he won‘t even talk to us. He won‘t even consider what the American people want. Is lowering costs. They don‘t like his tariffs,” he insisted.
“They don‘t like the health care stuff. And when you don‘t, when you sit down and say, it‘s my way or the highway, you‘re creating a shutdown. This is a Trump shutdown. Unless he sits down and negotiates.”
