Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) aired a sweeping list of frustrations Friday, leveling criticism at both Republican lawmakers and members of the Trump administration.
She railed against recent foreign policy decisions, judicial overreach, and domestic inaction, though she was careful to avoid directly blaming President Donald Trump himself.
In a lengthy message posted on X, Greene positioned herself as a voice for the conservative grassroots, making clear that dissatisfaction is growing among the party’s core supporters.
“I represent the base and when I’m frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear, the base is not happy,” she wrote.
Much of Greene’s ire centered on foreign policy. She questioned the current approach to Iran, particularly in light of continued diplomatic talks surrounding Tehran’s nuclear program.
A planned fourth round of negotiations in Rome was postponed over the weekend, sparking further speculation about U.S. involvement.
“I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran,” Greene said.
She challenged the rationale behind U.S. military involvement, stating, “I don’t think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries especially when they have their own nuclear weapons and massive military strength.”
Her post also revisited domestic issues, particularly the continued federal approval of COVID-19 vaccines.
Greene questioned the accountability of legal and judicial figures who, in her view, failed the American public during the pandemic.
She asked whether “those vicious attorneys and judges” who acted “against the American people in the last four years” would ever be held responsible for what she called the lives they “ruined.”
Turning her fire on her Republican colleagues in Congress, Greene challenged the lack of action on fiscal and legal accountability.
She called for a vote on budgetary recessions to codify directives by the Department of Government Efficiency and asked if there was enough “outrage and moral courage to dispose of this treason” coming from “rogue judges” blocking Trump’s executive actions.
She warned that if party leaders fail to address the concerns of conservative voters, it could cost them support going forward.
“When you are losing MTG, you are losing the base,” she wrote. “And Trump isn’t on the ballot in the future, so do the math on that.”
The remark appeared to reject the idea of Trump pursuing a third term, which would be unconstitutional without a formal amendment.
Greene also took issue with a recent U.S.-Ukraine agreement, which opens the door for American access to Ukrainian rare earth minerals in exchange for continued U.S. aid as Ukraine battles Russian forces.
Greene described the deal as both dangerous and unnecessary, criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s leadership during wartime.
She characterized Zelensky as a “dictator who canceled elections,” referencing Ukraine’s wartime decision to postpone voting.
She also reminded followers of Zelensky’s role in the initial impeachment proceedings against Trump.
“Why on earth would we go over and occupy Ukraine and spend an untold amount of future American taxpayer dollars defending and mining their minerals as well as potentially putting American lives at risk and future war?” Greene asked.
She advocated instead for the U.S. to tap into its own mineral reserves located on federally held lands, which she noted have long been restricted by the government.
While Greene blasted the deal, Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered a more measured take on the matter in a Fox News interview Thursday.
Rubio noted that a resolution between Russia and Ukraine remains elusive, even as negotiations continue.
“I think we know where Ukraine is, and we know where Russia is right now and where [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is. They’re still far apart,” he told Sean Hannity. “They’re closer, but they’re still far apart.”
Rubio added that without significant movement soon, President Trump would need to assess how much more top-level attention the situation deserves.
“There does come a point where the president has to decide how much more time at the highest levels of our government do you dedicate it, when maybe one of the two sides or both aren’t really close enough,” he said.
“We have got so many, I would argue, even more important issues going on around the world, not that a war in Ukraine is not important.”
Rubio defended the rare minerals agreement, portraying it as mutually beneficial. “It’s good for America, because we have invested a lot of money in this war,” he said.
“It’s also good for Ukraine because it’s going to help them be able to develop their economy and rebuild when this war ends.”
MTG sometimes you get it wrong. Iran cannot be allowed to continue building nukes. You and your support has to understand that and maybe the rest you just have to give Trump time to weed through the mess left by Biden and the establishment. Everything will not happen overnight. But keep us all informed and we will listen but not necessarily agree with your urgency or what you perceive as important immediately. Help with the judges and courts is really slowing progress down. You might want to put lots of pressure there darling!
I like MTG but yes she has it wrong when it comes to Iran for sure. Iran, if they attain nukes, will be a serious threat to the entire planet. “Radical Muslims” aren’t really radical. They are true muslims following what Mohammed taught and espoused in the Koran. And they don’t mind blowing up there children or themselves in pursuit of their 70 virgins in hell (their “paradise”). By waging a war on “infidels” and murdering as many “infidels” as possible, they expedite the coming of the Mahdi (their messiah). Iran has lied to the world constantly about their nuclear program. At first they claimed their goal was strictly for peaceful energy use. Where was the MSM and outrage as it became clear that they want nuclear weapons. Nothing but crickets! No mention about how Iran lied about their intentions. Only stupid nuclear “deals” from obama and Biden which guaranteed Iran would have nukes 10 years down the road. ONCE THEY HAVE NUKES ON MISSILES THEY WILL USE THEM TO GET THEIR WAY AND THEY WILL NOT HESITATE TO USE THEM! They have constantly vowed to destroy not only Israel —- little Satan —- but also the USA —- big Satan. I don’t want any war but Iran can not have nukes at all costs.
