North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis is raising the alarm about former President Trump’s close alliance with a far-right activist.
“Laura Loomer is a crazy conspiracy theorist who regularly utters disgusting garbage intended to divide Republicans. A DNC plant couldn’t do a better job than she is doing to hurt President Trump’s chances of winning re-election. Enough,” Tillis blasted in a Friday tweet.
Tillis’ remarks echo criticisms from other GOP heavyweights, including Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.
Despite not holding an official role in Trump’s campaign, Loomer flew on his plane to Tuesday’s debate against Vice President Harris in Philadelphia and joined his entourage at 9/11 memorial events on Wednesday.
Loomer, 31, made disparaging remarks about Vice President Harris’ race on Sunday.
“The White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center and the American people will only be able to convey their feedback through a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that nobody will understand,” she remarked.
Earlier this week, both Graham and Greene slammed Loomer for making racist comments aimed at Harris.
On Wednesday, Green said that that Loomer’s post “does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever.”
Loomer shot back that Greene was a “raging antisemite” and claimed her Sunday post was a “funny joke about Kamala Harris” using “her Indian mom as a way to dodge questions.”
“Laura Loomer’s outright lies, instability, and manic toxicity have no place in MAGA,” Greene tweeted.
“The American people deserve fighters, not those who cower before the media,” Loomer posted on X. “I couldn’t care less about what they or any sellout member of Congress think of me.”
On Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Loomer’s remarks were “repugnant.”
“No leader should ever associate with someone who spreads this kind of ugliness. This kind of racist poison, that’s what this is,” Jean-Pierre commented.
“Exactly the kind of hateful, decisive rhetoric that we should denounce. And should not be part of the fabric of this country. It doesn’t matter your political views, you should stand and condemn … these types of just repugnant, repugnant words,”she noted.
During a California appearance on Friday, Trump addressed questions from reporters about Loomer.
“Laura’s a supporter,” he remarked. “I have many supporters.”
He added that he was puzzled why people were so curious about her.
“She’s a strong person with strong opinions,” he stated.
However, Trump clarified on Truth Social on Friday that he does not endorse some of Loomer’s statements.
In his post, Trump noted his disagreement with Loomer’s comments, without specifying which ones, but referred to her as a “private citizen and longtime supporter.”
““I disagree with the statements she made but, like the many millions of people who support me, she is tired of watching the Radical Left Marxists and Fascists violently attack and smear me, even to the point of doing anything to stop their Political Opponent, ME!”” Trump wrote.
Republicans will always find a way to divide themselves. Grahams, Tillis, et al, took the bait.
As Reagan once said “trust BUT VERIFY”. Trump needs to listen to other supporters that are suspicious of Loomer. The demonRATS are “masters of disguise”.
