RNC Chair Gives Preview of Convention Plan

1 min read

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley hinted toward the new party platform and tone the upcoming convention would take.

The Republican National Convention will take place July 15th-18th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

There, the party will formally nominate former President Donald Trump as their candidate, just days after he’ll face sentencing in his New York trial.

“We’re really excited about being able to present Donald Trump as our nominee to go forward with it,” Whatley said.

After a debate where both candidates took a negative tone, Whatley said the party will focus on a positive vision for America at the convention.

“We’re going to have a fantastic convention. We’re very, very excited about it. We’re going to have 50,000 delegates, guests and members of the media that are going to be in Milwaukee, and they’re going to see us roll out a vision for America that is going to be overwhelmingly positive,” Whatley said in an interview on “The Hill Sunday.”

When asked about the party platform, which Republicans did not specifically outline in 2020, Whatley did not provide specifics, but said, “It is going to be fantastic across the board in terms of what it’s going to say about America. And we think that everybody is going to be happy with it, and we’re really excited about the opportunity to roll out into the general election campaign with Donald Trump as our formal nominee.”

The Biden Question

Whatley also commented on discussions that President Joe Biden could be replaced after a disastrous debate performance last week.

“There is no process that would allow for them to have an insurgency and remove him from their convention unless he’s going to step down. And we certainly don’t see any indication of that coming out of his conversations over the last couple days,” Whatley said.

“You know, for us, it doesn’t matter. We are going to run our race.”

  1. I may be wrong, but IMO it’s gonna be a sh1tshow with thousands of BLM/Antifa Brownshirts, pre-sited pallets of bricks, cops nowhere to be found, attendees unable to make it from their hotel to the conference hall….
