The White House took a swing at Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for flying an American flag upside-down outside his home.

On Thursday, the New York Times unearthed photos of the flag flying the wrong way up at the conservative justice’s Alexandria, Virginia home on January, 17, 2021, days ahead of President Joe Biden’s inauguration date.

While an upside-down American flag is only supposed to be flown as a sign of distress, it has become emblematic of the Stop the Steal movement, according to the liberal news outlet.

On Friday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that Biden’s stance is that “the American flag is sacred, and we should be respecting that flag.”

Though she refused to comment on calls for Alito to step back from cases tied to the 2020 presidential election.

“I do not want to get into the business of the specific actions that at that Supreme Court justices, if they should recuse themselves or not,” she remarked.

“That is something for the court more broadly, they have to make that decision. That is something that we’re not going to step into.”

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., didn’t have the same restraint, and has insisted that Alito recuse himself from election-related cases.

“Flying an upside-down American flag — a symbol of the so-called ‘Stop the Steal’ movement — clearly creates the appearance of bias,” Durban said in a statement.

“Justice Alito should recuse himself immediately from cases related to the 2020 election and the January 6th insurrection.”

The Supreme Court currently has two cases linked to Jan. 6: one on Trump’s presidential immunity in his election interference case and another involving an appeal by a man charged during the Capitol riot. Decisions are expected by the end of June.

The New York Times reported Thursday that it had acquired photos from the post-election period and interviewed Alito’s neighbors. The report also mentioned that the high court’s employees were aware of it.

Alito responded to the report on Friday, explaining that the flag incident had nothing to do with the Capitol riot, and everything to do with riling up his neighbors.

The conflict allegedly began when one of the residents on his street displayed a “F–k Trump” sign near a children’s bus stop, and was chided by his wife, Martha-Ann.

In response, the neighbor’s put a sign up that personally blamed the Alito’s for events at the capital, and verbally attacked his wife with derogatory language.

In an effort to rebuke her neighbors, Martha-Ann flew the flag upside-down “for a short” time, which he claimed to have had no part in.

  1. The democrats are pathetic little creatures. They always have their panties in a wad over some insignificant perceived slight. It borders on mental illness. They need to grow up and act like a man, erhh, woman, erhh, whatever they are pretending to be today.

  2. Anyone who can’t recognize the our once great country is in distress must be either asleep or diseased! Biden is incompetent and incapable of running our once great country! He is nothing but an empty shell of a man! But never fear the democrats are prepared to pull a fast one and stuff someone else into that suit! Probably just as incompetent as Biden has been for decades!

  3. Flying a flag upside down, ours or anyone’s, signals a “ship” in distress; goes back to the days of the “tall ships”! Justice Alito was, and still is correct! This ” ship” is in major distress! It’s not a crime to signal that when it’s the truth!

  4. The office of the President deserves respect also but Biden has trashed it since his first day in office.

  5. what about when those demostrators BURNED our Flag what did the Demorats do or say
    ” NOTHING ”

  6. What do those demokrats in the capitol say when rich-kid football players, or any other athlete decides he’ll/she’ll insult the American people by kneeling in protest to our Grand Old Flag, and our National Anthem? What about those who decided our anthem is not their anthem so they now have their very own to sing with tho’ they still live in this country? How do they feel about them? Doesn’t that distress them in the least?
