Sen. Fetterman Mocks Congresswomen For Turning Hearing Into ‘The Jerry Springer Show’

1 min read

Sen. John Fetterman blasted the chaotic scene inside a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing Thursday night as worse than an episode of “The Jerry Springer Show”.

“In the past, I’ve described the U.S. House as ‘The Jerry Springer Show,’” the Fetterman began in Friday post on X, formerly Twitter.

“Today, I’m apologizing to ‘The Jerry Springer Show,’” he added wryly.

The Pennsylvania Democrat’s comparison of the hearing to the the often trashy 1990s daytime talk show was surprisingly apt after the chaos lawmakers descended into on Thursday night.

Things got especially spicy during the meeting to decide if Attorney General Merrick Garland should be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over audio files of President Joe Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur in his classified documents investigation.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) kicked off the spat when she asked “if any of the Democrats on this committee are employing (Trump hush money) Judge Merchan’s daughter.”

“Please tell me what that has to do with Merrick Garland,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) questioned drolly.

“Oh, Goldman. That’s right. He’s advising. Ok,” Greene replied in reference Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) who Merchan’s political consultant daughter’s firm has done previous work for.

Crockett heatedly asked if Greene knew what the session was being held for, who slung back an insult about the Texas Democrat’s “fake eyelashes.”

That’s when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) chimed into to defend her fellow Democrat. “I do have a point of order. And I would like to move to take down Ms. Greene’s words,” she hissed.

“That is absolutely unacceptable! How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person,” Ocasio-Cortez  blasted.

“Are your feelings hurt?” Greene taunted, to which the New York Democrat screamed back, “Move her words down!”

“Aww,” Greene cackled, to which Ocasio-Cortez shot back, “Oh! Girl, baby, girl!”

“Oh, really?” Greene needled her. “Don’t even play!” Ocasio-Cortez retorted.

“Baby, girl? I don’t think so,” Greene clapped back.

“We are gonna move and we are gonna take your words down,” Ocasio-Cortez reiterated.

Greene relented and said she’d “strike her words,” but refused to apologize for them and offered to debate Ocasio-Cortez, who rejected the challenge outright.

Crockett got in her own licks later in the hearing. “I’m just curious. To better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” She mocked.

Ocasio-Cortez fired back at Fetterman on social media. “I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue,” she remarked. “But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one.”

  1. MTG’s point was well taken with me. And since when did our Congress become a ghetto laundromat gathering place.

  2. As a Conservative/Libertarian I have to admit fetterman has given me & most my acquaintances somewhat perplexed opinions on him. Knowing about most of his chaotic failed past none of us voted for him. Quite honestly we feel he won only by the grace of a failed corrupt election system. All that aside and as most conservatives & libertarians believe, people can & do change. More simplified we can call it ‘learning from experience’ or even ‘maturing’. Either case, fetterman has shown some surprising comments and a few political decisions that most of us feel he has become ‘woke’ (in the more true sense of the term, finding reality). If he keeps going in the same direction, hell he’ll win in an honest election.

  3. This is an appropriate use of clown.
Many people don’t like clowns for the stupidity. I don’t consider reps personality gaffs being amusing. Our NATION is being destroyed by the hour. Greene is a smart business woman who knows better than lower herself to the mud. Catfights are poor even in a bar. Where’s the Chairman/gavel.

  4. We elect these people to represent us. I take none of them seriously? No, I take none of them lightly! They’re dangerous! The first thing on their agenda is to get rich. Then, enjoy their power. They are worse than Iran, China, Russia, because they are our own. They are traitors. May God deal with them and their families accordingly!
