The Democratic National Committee covered the costs for President Joe Biden’s legal expenses associated with the investigation into how he managed classified materials.
Axios reported that the DNC paid over $1.5 million to the president’s personal attorney, Bob Bauer, and to the law office of Hemenway & Barnes LLP.
Federal Election Commission filings indicate that Hemenway & Barnes was paid $15,000 in January 2023, which coincided with the emergence of the classified document revelations.
Bob Bauer PLLC received a payment of $150,000 in July the same year, with payments to Hemenway & Barnes ramping up to $100,000 the same month.
Both entities were paid varying amounts through late February, when the special counsel ‘s investigation wrapped up.
The revelation comes on the heels of the Biden campaign blasting Trump for using campaign contributions to pay off his legal fees.
They recently accused Trump of a “lack of funding,” implying that requesting “donors to help cover your own personal debts instead of funding your campaign” may not be a politically savvy approach to the election.
The DNC claimed that the payments for Biden’s legal aid were “no comparison” the the $50 million in legal debts that Trump has racked up.
“The DNC does not spend a single penny of grassroots donors’ money on legal bills, unlike Donald Trump, who actively solicits legal fees from his supporters and has drawn down every bank account he can get his hands on like a personal piggy bank,” DNC spokesperson Alex Floyd remarked.
Last month, Trump and the Republican National Committee, under the leadership of his daughter-in-law Laura Trump, entered into an agreement that will see the organization send funds to the former president’s campaign and the PAC handling his legal bills, before allocating them to the GOP.
“Joe Biden and the Democrats’ entire campaign against President Trump is based upon lies and hypocrisy — they have repeatedly stated they don’t spend money on Biden’s legal bills, while they attack President Trump for having to defend himself from Biden’s witch hunts,” the Trump campaign said in a statement.
“Come to find out, the DNC paid millions to cover Biden’s legal bills to a law firm run by the husband of top White House staffer Anita Dunn. Apparently, ’10% for the big guy’ from Hunter wasn’t enough for Crooked Joe to foot his own bill.”
Never forget: If you’re not a Democrat you’re not entitled to be exempt from law.
Since both Joey and Hunter got their legal bills paid by others, shouldn’t the money spent on them be considered income? If it was you or me, the IRS would be all over us.
Surely you jest. Not only are these to vapid clowns above the law but paying their “fair share” means not them. Yes, it is income. Therefore taxable, but only for the likes of you and me.
