The Duke and Duchess of Sussex claim they were involved in a “near catastrophic car chase” after leaving an event in Manhattan, but the police are disputing their version of events.

A spokesperson for the pair said “highly aggressive” paparazzi drove on the sidewalk and ran red lights for two hours during a “relentless pursuit” of the couple.

New York Police Department sources said that while some photographers made their transport challenging and may have been scary for those involved, “there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests in regard.”

The NYPD is reviewing traffic cameras to determine exactly what happened, but as of Wednesday night had only commented that photographers on bicycles were visible on the footage.

New York Mayor Eric Adams himself cast some doubt on the story, saying when asked, “I would find it hard to believe that there was a two hour high speed chase. That would be – I’d find it hard to believe, but we will find out the exact duration.”

The couple eventually switched from a private car to a cab in an attempt to mislead the photographers. The cabbie, Sunny Singh, spoke to the press after the incident.

He said his cab got blocked by a garbage truck, and “and all of a sudden, paparazzies came, and they started taking pictures.”

He did not seem to feel the photographers were being aggressive, saying, “They were behind us. I mean, they stayed on top of us that was pretty much to it. There was nothing more. You know, they kept their distance. They’re just journalists just like everybody else trying to get pictures, trying to make a quick buck.”

When asked about photographers driving on sidewalks and running red lights, Singh said, “”Oh, I don’t think that’s true. I think that’s all you know, exaggerated and stuff like that. So don’t read too much into that, you know.”

  1. Two liberals lying??? There is a surprise. Next they will have fought in Vietnam or run from a helicopter under sniper fire or have been arrested during the civil rights protests in the 60’s. No two liberals lying and making up stuff isn’t really newsworthy.

  2. I find the cabbie’s version FAR more credible! NY traffic in the ’50s and early ’60s make an high speed chase in that city highly unlikely; now there are way more people and cars… MAYBE at 0330, after all the barflies have made it home but before the early workers are out on the streets, you could manage a mid-speed ” chase on city streets, but even that didn’t happen, according to the guy driving. This is just 1 more example of the attention junkie young Prince Harry got himself bamboozled in to marrying.
