President Donald Trump fired back at Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., on Sunday after the congressman criticized the administration’s decision to launch strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Massie had repeatedly taken to social media to denounce the president’s actions, arguing that the military engagement was unconstitutional and escalatory.
Massie posted that Trump’s military response violated the Constitution. “When two countries are bombing each other daily in a hot war, and a third country joins the bombing, that’s an act of war,” Massie wrote.
He followed up with another post accusing Washington “neocons” and their supporters of trying to twist the reality of war to avoid acknowledging the U.S. had entered another conflict.
The congressman also directly addressed House Speaker Mike Johnson, questioning why Congress wasn’t summoned to weigh in on military action.

In reply to Johnson’s defense of Trump’s decision, where he cited an urgent threat that necessitated immediate action, Massie asked, “Why didn’t you call us back from vacation to vote on military action if there was a serious threat to our country?”
Trump took notice and blasted Massie in a lengthy Truth Social post later that day.
“Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is. Actually, MAGA doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t respect him,” Trump wrote.
“He is a negative force who almost always votes ‘NO,’ no matter how good something may be,” he continued.
“He’s a simple-minded ‘grandstander’ who thinks it’s good politics for Iran to have the highest level Nuclear weapon, while at the same time yelling ‘DEATH TO AMERICA’ at every chance they get.”
Trump defended his administration’s military action by referencing Iran’s history of aggression toward the United States.
“We had a spectacular military success yesterday, taking the ‘bomb’ right out of their hands (and they would use it if they could!),” Trump penned.
“But, as usual, and despite all of the praise and accolades received, this ‘lightweight’ Congressman is against what was so brilliantly achieved last night in Iran.”
The president added that Massie is often a contrarian who obstructs progress.
“Massie is weak, ineffective, and votes ‘NO’ on virtually everything put before him (Rand Paul Jr.), no matter how good something may be,” Trump added.
He accused Massie of disrespecting U.S. service members and urged the Kentucky Republican to “drop his fake act” and prioritize national interests.
“MAGA should drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague!” Trump declared. “The good news is that we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I’ll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard.”
“MAGA is not about lazy, grandstanding, nonproductive politicians, of which Thomas Massie is definitely one,” he went on.
In a show of appreciation, Trump thanked the military, calling their operation “AMAZING” and “really SPECIAL!!!” He closed with a rallying cry: “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
Massie, undeterred, posted a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social attack, using it to launch a fundraising appeal.
He also appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” alongside Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., where the two lawmakers discussed their bipartisan War Powers Resolution aimed at blocking U.S. involvement in a war with Iran.
During the CBS interview, Massie argued that Iran did not pose a direct or immediate threat to the U.S.
Host Margaret Brennan cited Speaker Johnson’s defense of the strikes, saying the limited action fell within the president’s Article One authority.
Massie disagreed, saying, “Well, he’s probably referring to the War Powers Act of 1973, but that’s been misinterpreted. There were no imminent threats to the United States, which was what would authorize that. And I think that’s peculiar to hear that from the speaker of the House.”
Massie also continued the sparring match online. He wrote on X, “Trump declared so much War on me today it should require an Act of Congress.”
Later that afternoon, he fired another shot in response to Trump’s online post about regime change in Iran.
Trump had asked, “why wouldn’t there be regime change” and called to “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN.”
Massie replied, “This is not America First folks.”
Meanwhile, Trump insiders appear ready to escalate their efforts to oust Massie from Congress.
Two of the president’s top political strategists are preparing to support a challenger.
Chris LaCivita, a senior adviser to Trump, confirmed that he and fellow strategist Tony Fabrizio are launching a super PAC aimed at defeating Massie in the upcoming Republican primary.
Before any Republican answers any question about “non congressionally authorized military operations”, first let the dumbocraps answer for the over 300 times their president did the same thing. Their muslim god, obonzo, used it also. more than once.
This single sentence by Massie “Massie posted that Trump’s military response violated the Constitution” proves that Massie knows NOTHING about the Constitution and Executive powers. When the safety of the entire globe which has been threatened by Iran for 4 decades,is close to fruition the time has come to end the threats for good.
Massey is a representative and obviously did not do his homework. His learning curve is apalling. He opens his mouth, inserts his foot and does not even know he is wrong. There is a good reason Trump did not ask for his permission first. The bosses in the house and senate were informed and kept quiet while it was happening to not inform Iran it was coming.
Surprise, this fool would have called them to warn them or called a press conference to warn them. His electorate have to seriously park him next election, he is so stupid!
If Trump had asked Congress first, idiots like Massie would have spilled the beans to Iran.
