Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan faced the Wisconsin Supreme Court following her arrest on federal charges of obstructing immigration enforcement.
The suspension comes after allegations that Judge Dugan assisted Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, an illegal immigrant with a prior deportation, in evading arrest by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.
According to an FBI affidavit, on April 18, ICE agents arrived at the courthouse to detain Flores-Ruiz, who was scheduled to appear before Judge Dugan on misdemeanor battery charges related to domestic violence.
When informed of ICE’s presence, Judge Dugan reportedly became visibly angry, questioned the validity of the agents’ administrative warrant, and directed them to consult with Chief Judge Carl Ashley.
Subsequently, she allegedly instructed Flores-Ruiz and his attorney to exit the courtroom through a nonpublic jury door, allowing him to avoid the agents waiting in the public area.
Flores-Ruiz was later apprehended outside the courthouse after a brief pursuit.
Federal Charges and Legal Proceedings
Judge Dugan was arrested by the FBI on April 25 and charged with obstructing a federal proceeding and concealing an individual to prevent arrest.
She has retained prominent attorneys Paul Clement, former U.S. Solicitor General, and Steven Biskupic, former U.S. Attorney, to represent her.
Dugan’s legal team has expressed disappointment over the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision to suspend her, stating that the court acted unilaterally without a formal request from the Judicial Commission.
The incident has sparked significant public and political discourse. Attorney General Pam Bondi commented on the arrest, stating, “No one is above the law,” emphasizing the seriousness of a judge allegedly aiding an illegal immigrant in evading federal authorities.
Critics argue that such actions undermine the rule of law and erode public trust in the judiciary.
Supporters of Judge Dugan contend that she was upholding legal standards by questioning the validity of the administrative warrant presented by ICE agents.
Judge Dugan is scheduled to appear in federal court on May 15. In the interim, her caseload will be managed by other judges to ensure the continued administration of justice in Milwaukee County.
Supporters of Judge Dugan contend that she was upholding legal standards by questioning the validity of the administrative warrant presented by ICE agents.
What her supporters fail to realize is by aiding him to evade arrest she commited a crime.
The thing her supporters fail to realize is Judge Dugan is symbolic of our corrupted(by the democrats, Soros and other ultra wealthy oligarchs) judicial system. Lady justice will not exist as long as they remain in power. The democrat leaders(oligarchs) do not care about equal justice, America or the American people. They are ruthless politicos.
