Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has reportedly made a financial contribution to a pro-Trump Super PAC, aiming to support the re-election campaign of former President Donald Trump.
According to sources familiar with the situation who spoke to Bloomberg, Musk donated a “sizeable amount” to America PAC.
This particular Super PAC has been identified as the “biggest spender on direct voter contacts,” having already disbursed around “$15.8 million” on the upcoming election.
According to the article, America PAC operates largely behind the scenes, focusing on enhancing the Trump campaign’s ground efforts. The PAC is scheduled to disclose its donor list on July 17.
Bloomberg pointed out that Musk’s donation could potentially “deal a devastating blow to” President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, “who are already mired in an intraparty battle of the president’s political future.”
Biden’s future as the Democratic presumptive nominee got more dicey on Friday, when the largest super PAC supporting his reelection reportedly froze around $90 million in contributions as long as the president remains in the race.
Musk’s reported donation comes after he publicly declared that he would not financially support either Trump or Biden.
Despite his assertion, Musk’s commentary on his platform X, formerly Twitter, has increasingly aligned with conservative politics.
In March, he tweeted, “Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President.”
Contrary to his promise, The New York Times reported that Musk met with Trump and Republican donors in Florida in the Spring, and Trump himself said the meeting happened.
Musk has been vocally critical of Biden and the administration’s policies for a significant period of time.
In a May 2023 interview, he said the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story amounted to “election interference.”
In September of he same year, Musk saw the U.S.-Mexico border at Eagle Pass, Texas, for himself, and said the “situation beyond insane and growing fast.”
He also blasted the Biden administration after the tragic death of Augusta University nursing student Laken Riley in Athens, Georgia, who was allegedly killed by an illegal migrant.
“Dems won’t deport, because every illegal is a highly likely vote at some point,” Musk said on his platform. “That simple incentive explains what seems to be insane behavior.”
“It has become so brazen that a gang of illegals can beat up police officers on camera in Times Square, get out of jail for free and still not get deported,” he elaborated.
“Why does the radical far left Biden administration welcome violent illegals into America to prey upon your friends & family?” Musk questioned in March. “We are even warned by other countries that it is insane to make America a haven for their convicted criminals!”
When Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in May, Musk said that if a former president could be “criminally convicted over such a trivial matter,” that “anyone is at risk.”
In reaction to the June 27 debate between Trump and Biden, Musk described them both as “talking puppets.”
His latest post was about the House passing the SAVE Act, which will require voters to provide proof of citizenship to cast a ballot.
The bill is expected to stall out in the Democrat controlled Senate, and if it manages to pass, Biden has already declared he would veto it.
“There is a tiny chance this will pass the senate if a few Dems cross party lines, but Biden said he would veto the bill even it did. I wonder why?” Musk wrote on July 11.
