The House passed a bill on Wednesday that would impose stricter requirements for voting in federal elections and mandate states to manage their voter rolls.
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act passed with a 221-198 vote, including support from five Democrats.
The bill now moves to the Senate, where it is expected to face significant opposition from Democrats. Even if it passes, President Biden has already committed to vetoing the bill.

“This is the 2024 version of the Jim Crow poll tax and we should vote against it,” declared Rep. Jennifer McClellan (D-VA), criticizing the bill for requiring proof of citizenship before voting.
Historically, from the 1800s until the 1960s, many were disenfranchised by the “poll tax” — a flat fee required to vote.
“This bill is essentially a poll tax, because I am not aware of a single proof of citizenship document that does not cost an individual money to get it [and] unless we are requiring every state to provide one for free … it’s an unfunded mandate,” McClellan argued.
Critics argue that making noncitizen voting illegal could result in U.S. citizens being denied their voting rights in the process.
“Republicans want to throw up barriers because when people vote, they lose,” Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) alleged. “They don’t want to hear black voices, brown voices, LGBTQIA voices, young voices.”
“Our fundamental access to our democracy is being politicized, and this xenophobic attack that we’re debating today will make it harder for Americans to vote,” she added.
Lee claimed that nearly 30 million Americans don’t have valid driver’s licenses, while up to 18 million people don’t have the required documents to prove their birth and citizenship.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) defended the bill on the House floor, asserting the necessity of the legislation due to instances of noncitizens voting in U.S. elections, despite it being illegal.

“Even though it’s already illegal, this is happening,” Johnson stated. He accused Democrats of trying to “mislead” Americans about the integrity of elections, noting that they want “illegals to vote in our elections.”
“They’re claiming to oppose the bill because they say it’s going to make it harder to vote,” Johnson remarked at a press conference. “But they know that that is not true. Many of the Democrats want all of these illegals to participate in our federal elections.”
He said that the only conclusion that can be drawn about Democrat opposition to the bill was that they “want” noncitizens to vote.
“When the White House announced that they would veto the bill they effectively handed our elections over to all of these illegal aliens that have come here,” he concluded.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who introduced the legislation, highlighted evidence of noncitizens voting as a driving factor behind the bill.
“We’ve got repeated evidence of those who are here illegally, or whether they’re here legally, but non-citizens voting,” Roy commented.
The bill will make it a crime for election officials to register voters without requiring them to show proof of citizenship. It also mandates the removal of noncitizens from voter rolls.
Roy stressed the importance of maintaining the sanctity of American citizenship, saying, “We will only be able to keep this republic as a republic as long as our citizenship as Americans remains meaningful. That’s why I introduced the SAVE Act in the first place, and it’s why the People’s House passed it today.”
Opposition from the Biden Administration was clear, with a statement released on Monday asserting that states “already have effective safeguards in place” to verify voter eligibility and maintain accurate voter rolls.
“This bill would do nothing to safeguard our elections, but it would make it much harder for all eligible Americans to register to vote and increase the risk that eligible voters are purged from voter rolls,” the White House commented.
“The evidence is clear that the current laws to prevent noncitizen voting are working as intended — it is extraordinarily rare for noncitizens to break the law by voting in Federal elections.”

Without the passage of this bill, and biden signing it into law, Trump’ s chances of winning the November election are very slim, and the liberal progressives will likely maintain control over America, allowing themselves to complete their communist control of our country and enabling its citizens to commence with the civil war to right all the wrongs.
