Former President Trump floated the idea of granting automatic green cards during a podcast interview that came out on Thursday.
“But what I wanna do—and what I will do—is, you graduate from a college, I think you should get automatically, as part of your diploma, a green card to be able to stay in this country,” Trump remarked on the “All-In” podcast.
Trump said he was aware of college graduates who, despite having innovative plans for companies, had to leave the U.S. due to visa issues.
“I know stories where people graduated from a top college or from a college, and they desperately wanted to stay here,” he revealed.
“They had a plan for a company, a concept, and they can’t… They go back to India, they go back to China.”
Trump targeted President Biden’s immigration policies during a his recent rally in Wisconsin. He criticized the White House’s executive action, which allows some immigrants without legal status, yet are married to U.S. citizens to be allowed to remain and work here.
“Crooked Joe is sending a message to the world that he rewards illegal entry, and that’s what’s happening,” Trump said. He added that this policy would harm the Black and Hispanic populations, as well as labor unions.
In related news, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced a bill to exempt tips from taxation, including those from credit and debit card charges.
This idea piggybacked on Trump’s proposal during a recent visit to Capitol Hill. “American workers in dozens of industries depend on tipped wages to support themselves,” Cruz stated.
The No Tax on Tips Act aims to ensure that tipped workers, like waiters and valets, “get to keep all of those tips.”
The proposal garnered immediate support from other GOP senators, including Rick Scott, Steve Daines, and Kevin Cramer.
“We need to take action now to lower costs for hardworking Americans and get our economy back on track,” Scott responded.
The proposal seeks to nix tips given via cash, credit, debit cards, and checks from federal income tax for workers.
House Republicans introduced a companion measure called the Tax-Free Tips Act, supported by Representatives Thomas Massie, Matt Gaetz, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Meanwhile, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced plans to file a lawsuit against New York State over what he termed as “unconstitutional lawfare” against Trump.
“I will be filing suit against the State of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump,” Bailey posted on social media.
This development follows a Manhattan jury’s conviction of Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments, making him the first former U.S. president to be convicted of felony crimes.
Bailey argued that the conviction denies Missourians access to their chosen presidential candidate.
“Millions and millions of Missourians have voted for President Trump and deserve the ability to hear from him,” he told Fox News. “We can’t let states like New York deny Missourians access to that candidate,”
Bailey believes the conviction will eventually be overturned but cautioned that it could still interfere with the 2024 election.
Tax free tipping is a nice gesture but how about how the government sees fit to tax the punny interest the banks give us on deposits which does not come close to equaling the inflation that is destroying the value of the savings we struggle to accumulate. And the inflation destroying our monetary assets has been created by our own government ——— just another form of tyranny.
