Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida revealed that lawmakers overseeing the investigation into classified documents related to former President John F. Kennedy’s assassination are seeking access to an allegedly unreleased video held by NBC.
President Donald Trump recently declassified over 60,000 pages of previously classified materials concerning Kennedy’s assassination after pledging to make the information public.
Luna, speaking on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on friday night, explained that the Oversight Committee is preparing to hold its first hearing on the subject since the release of the files, scheduled for April 1.
Notable witnesses, including filmmaker Oliver Stone and journalist Jefferson Morley, are expected to testify.
“So we’re actually in the process of tracking down two specific documents and, also to Jesse, I would like to actually tell the American people it was made aware to me this evening that NBC actually has a video that’s never been seen before,” Luna told the Fox News host.
“We’re actually going to be sending a letter requesting that from NBC because it allegedly shows Oswald near the vehicle when the assassination took place, which means that he couldn’t have been the shooter.”
Luna continued, referencing newly surfaced intelligence, saying, “We’re tracking down all this information, but look, there’s even a CIA document that came out that Mr. Morley pointed out that actually said that the CIA never bought the lone gunman theory.”
“I think the American people had an inclination as to what we were saying, but we never had the hard evidence until now,” she added.
According to Luna, Stone said that he had seen a copy of the footage, which could “blow up the entire JFK investigation, and believes NBC is “guarding” the tape.
“It’s important, not just for our investigations, but so the American people know the truth as to what happened with John F. Kennedy,” she concluded.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., JFK’s nephew, stirred the pot on Friday when he seemed to make a joke at the expense of West Virginia’s Republican Governor Patrick Morrisey’s weight.
Kennedy was in the state to promote new health initiatives aimed at improving residents’ well-being.
Earlier in the week, Morrisey signed legislation banning the use of certain food dyes across West Virginia.
The law affects several widely consumed products, including M&Ms, Mountain Dew, and Froot Loops amongst other processed food.
Speaking at a school in Martinsville, W.Va., Kennedy made light of his initial meeting with the governor.
“The first time I saw him, I said, ‘You look like you ate Governor Morrisey,’” Kennedy cruelly jabbed. “And there was a lot of talk about getting healthy again, and I’m very happy that he’s invited me to be his personal trainer.”
“I’m going to put him on a really rigorous regimen. And we’re going to put him on a carnivore diet,” he claimed.
Kennedy went further, calling for public accountability regarding Morrisey’s fitness progress. “We’re going to make him do — raise your hand if you want Governor Morrisey to do a public weigh-in once a month,” he said.
“And then, when he’s lost 30 pounds I’m going to come back to the state and do a celebration and a public weigh-in with him.”
