Senator Doesn’t Rule Out Impeaching Trump Again

2 mins read

New Senator Adam Schiff signaled that he wouldn’t be opposed to attempting to once again impeach President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his second term in office.

The California Democrat told CNN’s “January 6th: Congress Certifies the Election” that the left is prepared to “fight” Trump on the day that the president-elect’s victory was certified by Congress.

“We keep a focus on trying to get positive affirmative things done for the country. But a lot will depend on how he chooses to govern,” Schiff stated when pressed about whether they would prioritize new policies over revisiting investigations during Trump’s next term.

“If he violates the law, if he violates the Constitution, if he abuses his office, we will vigorously push back, fight back, stand up to him, as we had to do during his first term in office,” he told the liberal network.

This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Schiff, who played a central role in leading the impeachment inquiry of Trump during the former president’s initial term.

During those proceedings, Schiff chaired the House Intelligence Committee while also being appointed one of the impeachment managers, leading the team responsible for presenting the case.

Later in the segment, CNN host Dana Bash brought up Trump’s focus on Schiff, labeling him part of the incoming president’s “political crosshairs.”

When Dana Bash asked if Schiff, who she said was in Trump’s “political crosshairs,” if he wanted the President to issue him a preemptive pardon, the recently elected senator said that he didn’t want Joe Biden to set a “precedent” by doing so.

“It would be the wrong precedent to set. I don’t want to see each president hereafter on their way out the door giving out a broad category of pardons,” he answered.

When pushed further regarding the possibility of a specific pardon, Schiff’s response became measured.

“Well, and here I’m just speaking for myself, those of us that were on the Jan. 6 committee who [Trump] has put in the crosshairs, we’re all enormously proud of the work that we did,” he remarked.

“We stand by it. We feel we have the protection of the Speech and Debate Clause. So, I — my own feeling is, let’s just avoid this kinda broad precedent,” he explained but stopped short of closing the door completely, noting, “I’m urging that he not go down that road.”

Some Democratic voices have floated the possibility that Biden should issue pardons to people who may face targeting by Trump’s administration before leaving the White House. Schiff, however, acknowledged the complexities that such actions can invite.

“We’re back in this conundrum again, where a Democratic president can do things for a very good reason, a laudable reason, a legitimate reason — in this case, that people are being threatened improperly by an incoming president — but then that precedent can be abused,” Schiff explained.

Earlier in the day, Congress officially certified Trump’s 2024 win over Vice President Kamala Harris without any objections from lawmakers. This certification cements Trump’s victory two weeks ahead of his swearing-in ceremony.

Schiff, meanwhile, was sworn in earlier in December, filling the Senate seat vacated by the late longtime Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein. Schiff previously served in the House for nearly 24 years, representing parts of Southern California.

During his Senate campaign, Schiff consistently highlighted his willingness to confront abuses of power, a theme that he reiterated ahead of the election.

“If it’s necessary to serve as a check on a President, whether that one or any other one who is abusing the powers of their office or trying to tear down the guardrails of our democracy, I’m going to stand up to them,” Schiff stated back in October.

  1. This clown really needs to go. If he’s worried about violating the Constitution, how about all the spending Congress does that is NOT supported by the enumerated powers, i.e. is illegal? How about taxing us for stuff the federal government is not allowed to do? Start with your own glass house, Schiff, before throwing stones at other’s.

  2. Shift, close to being the absolute worst politician we unfortunately have. He is completely delusional, demonic and is just another puppet of Soros, Schwab and I might add, Satan. Everything Schiff said in that interview is just disgusting.

  3. I agree with all that was written above. This Schiff creature was the most despicable member of the House, and now he is the most despicable member of the Senate.
