Lawmaker Blames Trump For Husband’s Attack

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claimed in a weekend interview that former President Donald Trump was linked to the 2022 assault on her husband, Paul Pelosi.

During her appearance on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” with Margaret Brennan, Pelosi suggested that Trump’s words influenced violent actions, particularly mentioning individuals involved in the January 6 riot.

She alleged that those who used incendiary language that day had the “intention” of acting on it.

“Now it didn’t end that day,” she stated. “As you know, he called out to these people to continue their violence, my husband being a victim of all of that, and he still has injuries from that attack.”

“So it just goes on and on. It isn’t something that happens and then it’s over. No, once you are attacked, you have consequences that continue,” she added.

Pelosi then criticized Trump’s reported willingness to pardon certain participants in the January 6 chaos.

“It’s really a strange person who’s going to be President of the United States, who thinks that it’s okay to pardon people who are engaged in an attack,” she said, before accusing Trump of having “conned” the public about the motives behind the riot.

She went on to address Trump’s comments about pardons, saying, “The President said he would go on a case-by-case basis. So I assume that some of those people may not have engaged in the violent activities that some of the others did.”

Pelosi doubled down on her accusations, alluding to Trump’s supposed influence, stating he provided “encouragement” to those individuals who had sought her out, later finding and attacking her husband.

Meanwhile, over on NBC News’ “Meet The Press,” Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) denied allegations that

Democrats had misled the public over President Joe Biden’s mental decline during his time in office.

While speaking with Kristen Welker, Schumer was confronted with past remarks in which he defended Biden’s cognitive abilities.

The interviewer played a clip of Schumer from last year in which he claimed to speak with Biden several times a week, saying, “His mental acuity is great. It’s fine. It’s as good as it’s been over the years.

All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong.”

When asked by Welker, “What do you say to Americans who feel as though you and other top Democrats misled them about President Biden’s mental acuity?” Schumer pushed back.

“No. Look, we didn’t,” Schumer replied. “And let’s – let’s look – let’s look at President Biden. He’s had an amazing record. The legislation we passed, one of the most significant groups of legislation since the New Deal – since Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society, putting in 235 judges, a record.”

“And he’s a patriot. He’s a great guy. And when he stepped down, he did it on his own because he thought it was better not only for the Democratic Party, for America,” he continued. “We should all salute him. We should all salute him.”

Welker pressed further, questioning whether Biden could have secured reelection had he chosen to remain in the race. Schumer dodged the question, stating, “I’m not going to speculate.”
