Bomb threats targeting several Connecticut Democrats were condemned by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ office, branding them as “unacceptable” and vowing that House Democrats would remain steadfast in their duties.
“America is a democracy,” Jeffries’ office stated firmly on Friday. “Threats of violence against elected officials are unacceptable, unconscionable and have no place in a civilized society.”
They added that all individuals responsible for politically motivated violence, regardless of affiliation, must be “prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
On Thanksgiving Day, bomb threats rattled multiple liberal Connecticut lawmakers at their homes.
Confirmed targets included Representatives Jim Himes, John B. Larson, Jahana Hayes, Joe Courtney, and Senator Chris Murphy.
Jeffries’ office disclosed that the threats varied in nature, ranging from pipe bombs allegedly placed in mailboxes to “swatting” incidents, where someone falsely reports an emergency to dispatch armed police to a target’s home.
Each threat reportedly ended with the word “MAGA,” however, the specific intent behind the messages remains unclear, and law enforcement searches turned up no explosive devices at any location.
“House Democrats will not be deterred or intimidated,” the statement from Jeffries’ office read, adding that they are actively collaborating with the sergeant-at-arms to ensure member safety.
“It is imperative that Congress provide maximum protection for all Members and their families moving forward,” the statement noted.
These incidents caught the attention of the White House, with a representative confirming that President Biden was briefed on the situation.
Meanwhile, the FBI acknowledged it is actively investigating “numerous bomb threats and swatting incidents” targeting both current and incoming administration officials.
They confirmed that federal authorities are cooperating with local law enforcement to address these threats.
The week also saw similar threats aimed at appointees of President Trump. Among the targets were Republican lawmakers named to key roles in the incoming administration, including Representative Elise Stefanik of New York, chosen for the United Nations ambassadorship, and Representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon, slated for Labor secretary.
House Speaker Mike Johnson weighed in, making his outrage over the threats against Trump’s nominees publicly known.
“This year, there was not just one but TWO assassination attempts on President Trump,” Johnson declared in a Wednesday post on X .
“Now some of his Cabinet nominees and their families are facing bomb threats,” he added. “This is dangerous and unhinged. It is not who we are in America.”
“Joe Biden and all Democrat leaders have an obligation to speak up and condemn this now,” he urged.
Jeffries is a combination of Pelosi and Maxine Watters. He is a pathetic liar and will do anything to smear Republicans. He is what is wrong with America.

This act was most likely committed by democrats themselves and not MAGA people. It would fall in line with dem behavior.
They ended with “MAGA”. This tells you everything you need to know. Democrats labeled Republicans as “”MAGA”. No person I know talks like that or would say “MAGA”.
