Walz Sputters As He Tries to Reverse Course on Electoral College Comments

1 min read

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz took heat for his comments about abolishing the electoral college, but his attempted reversal is a confused word salad.

Walz brought up abolishing the electoral college twice in campaign events last week.

“And we know, because of our system of the Electoral College, that puts a few states in real focus,” Walz said in Seattle. “I’m a national popular vote guy, but that’s not the world we live in.”

Later in Sacramento, he was even more brazen.

“I think all of us know, the Electoral College needs to go. We need a — we need national popular vote,” he said. “But that’s not the world we live in. So, we need to win Beaver County, Pa. We need to be able to go into York, Pa., and win. We need to be in western Wisconsin and win. We need to be in Reno, Nev., and win. And the help that you give here today helps make that happen.”

Former President Donald Trump, among others, jumped on his comments.

“Why does Tampon Tim hate the Constitution so much? He hates the First Amendment. He hates the Supreme Court. He hates the Electoral College,” the campaign said.

In a Thursday interview with ABC’s Michael Strahan, Walz attempted to distance the Harris campaign from his stance.

“It’s not the campaign’s position. And the point I’m trying to make is that there’s folks that feel every vote must count in every state. And I think some folks feel that’s not the case. Our campaign does that,” Walz said.

“And the point I’m saying is I’m in five states in two days. We’re out there making the case that the campaign’s position is clear, that that’s not their position. Their position and my position is to make sure that everybody understands their vote, no matter what state they’re in, matters,” Walz added.

Democrats often call to abolish the electoral college after they lose.

Hillary Clinton did so after losing to Trump in 2016.

Vice President Kamala Harris, despite Walz’s defense, has also signaled that she is open to the idea.

“There’s no question that the popular vote has been diminished in terms of making the final decision about who’s the president of the United States and we need to deal with that, so I’m open to the discussion,” Harris had said in a 2019 interview.

    • Walz’s 15 trips to China pretty well defines this fools warped ideology. When he goes there they know he is a state official so he is treated far differently that the average Chinese citizen who is treated far differently than a member of the CCP.
I’m still waiting for the investigation results of the missing classified “Howitzer Manual” documentation that magically was no longer missing after Walz returned from a trip to China. The manual supposedly contained information about the “nuclear capability” of a Howitzer which China does now have use of now.

  1. “I’ve never been to Europe, either; I’m not sure I understand your point.”

“We need to get rid of the Electoral College.”

Need to put up a one sheet from Dumb & Dumberer with Harris & Walz photoshopped in…
