Republicans Offer Similar Advice to JD Vance Ahead of Debate

1 min read

Various Republicans hit the Sunday show circuit to offer the same general advice to JD Vance ahead of the first vice presidential debate on Tuesday.

Representative Ralph Norman (R-SC) said Vance needs to “harp on the record” of the Biden-Harris administration.

“What I hope JD Vance will do is start off with the same question I just said, ‘Americans … do you feel like you’re better off under the Harris-Biden administration?’ The answer will be pretty clear,” Norman said on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday”.

He also advised Vance to stick with their record on immigration, crime, and interest rates.

The three are consistently cited as top issues among Republican voters.

Norman concluded that Vance should start with “the fact that it’s been a train wreck since they took office and nothing’s going to change that until the change in the executive branch.”

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) also had words of encouragement for Vance.

“He’s going to do a great job,” Emmer said while speaking to Martha Raddatz on ABC News’s “This Week.

“I can tell you, he’s got the issues on his side, Martha. He could talk about the economy that Donald Trump fixed and that Harris and Biden broke. He can talk about the border that Trump fixed, and they broke. He can talk about peace and stability around the world, which they don’t even have a clue.”

“Once he understands that Tim Walz is just going to try and deflect and go into this folksy whatever, he’ll hold him accountable. I think JD will do a great job,” Emmer added.

Emmer would not divulge any insight into the debate prep he has done with Vance.

“I’m not going to get ahead of JD and the team. If they want to talk about exactly what we did, when we did it, how many times, they can do that,” he added. “For me, I did my job — or have been doing my job — in helping JD see what it is he’s going to be dealing with on Tuesday night.”

But he did give insight into how he played Walz for Vance in practice sessions.

“I’ve known Tim, oh, probably since he was first elected almost 20 years ago. And I worked with him directly for four years. I spent the last month just going back, all of his old stuff to get his phrases down, his mannerisms, that sort of thing. My job was to be able to play Tim Walz so JD Vance knows what he’s going to see.”

“People do not like him once they get to know him. And JD will expose that on Tuesday,” Emmer said.

  1. I know how to piss off a communist infected politician; call him or her a communist !! It usually makes them go ballistic. Walz has a very short fuse as most authoritarians do so that is what Vance should do. Every time we see a picture of Walz he is waving his arms wildly like he did in Minnesota during Covid when he acted just like the wanna be dictator he is. Rattle his cage because he cannot control his temper. Even though he looks like Khrushchev he reminds me of the thug LBJ.
