According to a new survey, two specific vice-presidential contenders would significantly bolster former President Donald Trump’s election odds if they are chosen as his running mate.

On Monday, a Harvard CAPS-Harris poll revealed that 25 percent of conservative respondents indicated they would be more inclined to vote for the 45th president if Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) or Tim Scott (R-S.C.) is his VP pick.

When independents and undeclared respondents were added to the mix, 20 percent indicated a preference for Trump with Rubio as the running mate, while 19 percent said the same for Scott.

Rubio and Scott’s numbers surpass any other potential Trump vice presidents amongst Republican voters, including Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who only scored 16 percent and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), who came in a full percentage point less.

Both Vance and Burgum’s numbers dropped to 13 and 12 percent respectively, when independents and other respondents were considered.

Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, commented, “Scott and Rubio appear to be strong VP choices, whereas Burgum and Vance would be much less beneficial.”

Conducted between June 28-30, the survey involved 2,090 registered voters and was carried out by the Harris Poll and Harris X in collaboration with the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University.

Rubio, Scott, Vance, and Burgum have emerged as favorites to join Trump’s ticket. Though the former president has reportedly made his decision, he has yet to announce his pick.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Elon Musk accused current Vice President Kamala Harris of lying about Trump’s stance on a national abortion ban.

He commented after a community note added to a post from her campaign account.

“When will politicians, or at least the intern who runs their account, learn that lying on this platform doesn’t work anymore?” Musk tweeted on Monday.

He attached a screenshot of Harris’s statement along with the community note to his post.

“Donald Trump would ban abortion nationwide.” Harris wrote on Sunday. “President @JoeBiden and I will do everything in our power to stop him and restore women’s reproductive freedom.”

Musk also directly responded to Harris’s tweet the same night replying, “He clearly said he would not do so in the debate.”

In April, Trump stated that abortion laws should be left to the states and didn’t take a stance at the time on a federal abortion ban.

Later Trump said he wouldn’t sign abortion ban legislation at a federal level, “because we don’t need it any longer. Because we broke Roe v. Wade.”

The Biden-Harris campaign responded to Musk’s accusation by linking earlier reports of Trump privately indicating support for a 16-week ban prior to his official declaration.

“Elon Musk can Google it,” campaign spokesperson James Singer said in a statement. “Donald Trump wants to ban abortion nationwide, allow his allies to ban medication abortion and contraception, and use the power of the government to harass and punish women.”

“This election is a choice between codifying Roe and protecting women’s fundamental rights, and allowing extreme politicians to interfere with medical decisions and rip away freedoms,” he noted.

  1. Marco Rubio IS a member of the deep state and loves the military, intel community, and senseless wars.

  2. I still think Nikki Haley would be a great choice for VP due to her influence on Independent voters and she carried Vermont in the Republican Primary. She got around 20% of the overall vote. Also she is a minority female that balances the ticket. Since when did VP’s have to get along real well with the president?
Also she has potential for the 2028 Presidential Run!

  3. If we are going to change the direction of our country Tucker Carlson needs to be our vice president and become president. Watch his speech in Australia and compare it to anyone else.
