Criminal Leftist Identified as Texas Church Shooter

The gunman has been identified in the horrific shooting that took place at Joel Osteen’s Texas megachurch on Sunday afternoon. As is increasingly the case, his ties to multiple leftist causes have been uncovered.

The shooter was reported as a female, but has been identified as a 36-year-old biologically male transgender named Genesse Ivonne Moreno, formerly Jeffrey. Moreno was killed by officers during the response to his attack.

Moreno entered the church just before a Spanish language service was set to take place on Sunday afternoon. He brought along a 7-year-old boy reported to be his son, but it is not clear if the child is biologically related to Moreno.

The boy was critically injured during Moreno’s apprehension and was taken to a children’s hospital. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office told the Houston Chronicle that the child is not expected to survive.

Criminal Details Emerge

Moreno has a long criminal history in the state, with charges going back to 2005. Those include unlawful carrying of a weapon, evading arrest, and assault on a public official.

While his motive remains unclear, the rifle Moreno used during his attack appeared to have “Free Palestine” scrawled on it, according to two law enforcement officers familiar with the case.

Officers also reported that Moreno made several statements during his attack, but they declined to detail those statements at this time. Investigators are now searching his residence and going through his social media posts to determine a motive.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said in a statement, “I will not make any assumptions because information continues to come in as to what motivated the shooter, but I am asking that the investigation look into whether it was a hate crime, given the shooting took place at an all-Spanish service.”

Houston Mayor John Whitmire said security would be increased around the city’s churches, synagogues and mosques in response to the attack.
