Could House Speakership Drama Derail Trump 2024?

1 min read

A representative from Texas announced that he will move to formally nominate former President Donald Trump as next Speaker of the House.

Representative Troy Nehls, a Republican from Texas, issued a statement of his intent Tuesday night following Representative Kevin McCarthy’s historic ouster.

“This week, when the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes, my first order of business will be to nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives,” Nehls said.

“President Trump, the greatest President of my lifetime, has a proven record of putting America First and will make the House great again.”

The Speaker of the House is not legally required to be a sitting member of Congress, though there is no historical precedent for someone in the role not being a member.

Representative Greg Steube, a Republican from Florida, also said he would back Trump as the new Speaker in a post on X.

Trump has previously said that he would not be interested in the job. Before Republicans took back the House in the 2022 midterms, he said in March, “No, I think that it’s not something I wanted. A lot of people bring it up. It’s brought up all the time.”

“No, it’s not something I want to do. I want to look at what’s happening, and then we’re going to be doing something else. No, it’s not something I would be interested in.”

McCarthy Replacement Rumors Swirl

McCarthy said he would not attempt to become Speaker again after he was voted out on Tuesday.

He also said he would have to “look at” remaining in Congress at all following the crushing defeat.

The GOP will hold a candidate forum next Tuesday where they will select a new member for the role, which is currently being temporarily filled by Patrick McHenry of North Carolina.

One of his first acts was to order Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi to vacate the hideaway office so he could take it over.

“This eviction is a sharp departure from tradition,” Pelosi said. “As Speaker, I gave former Speaker Hastert a significantly larger suite of offices for as long as he wished.”

  1. No. TRUMP WILL BE PRESIDENT. NOTHING CAN STOP WHATS COMING. THEIR DAM IS CRACKED. THE SEEM IS GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER. LOOK AT NEWS. DEMS BEING ARRESTED. THEY WILL ALL PAY.

    • Yes, it can, and almost certainly will; those polls are immaterial! It’s not who votes for whom, but who counts the votes that makes the difference. If you think ’20, and ’22 were manipulated, fasten your seatbelts tight, and lock those tray tables for sure, because this crash will be a whopper! There is NO WAY on God’s green Earth the PTB will allow Trump back in office; and if you have not yet understood that, get it through your heads now! Do YOU STILL NOT grasp that our governance is NOT in DC??? That who sits in the Oval Office is not decided by our votes???

  2. there will be a violent outcome this time if it is found the dems cheated again. all the illegals that are here have been given driver licenses and/or ID cards that some states will use to allow them to vote, regardless of alien status. patriotic Americans know this border crisis b-s is a ploy to make America non-white. Biden said so himself yesterday. of course, most outlets won’t tell you that. this is what Obama has aimed for since the day he was selected. it is up to us to stop this by any means necessary. dems have proven they cannot win unless they cheat, and they have no regard for rule of law. they are above it they think. sure glad I won’t be here to put up with the dems socialist agenda long. good luck, fools.
