Trump Advisor Calls for ‘End’ to Primary Debates

1 min read

One of former President Donald Trump’s top advisors is calling for the Republican party to end primary debates and focus on Joe Biden.

Chris LaCivita posted on X near the end of the second Republican debate saying it was “as boring and inconsequential as the first debate” and that nothing the other candidates said or did could change the fact that Trump carries a near-insurmountable lead.

“The [Republican National Committee] should immediately put an end to any further primary debates so we can train our fire on Crooked Joe Biden and quit wasting time and money that could be going to evicting Biden from the White House,” he said.

Trump skipped the second debate, like he did for the first debate earlier this month, and gave a speech to autoworkers in a Detroit suburb instead amid the United Auto Workers strike.

Trump cites his enormous lead in polls as his main reason for skipping the debates. He holds leads of at least 30 points in many of the biggest polls.

The third debate is scheduled to be held in early November in Miami.

However, Trump seems to think the debates should go on for a different purpose.

“Let them debate so I can see who I MIGHT consider for Vice President!” Trump previously wrote on Truth Social.

LaCivita has made similar comments in the past, saying before the first debate that it was really an “audition” to be part of Trump’s second term.

No Stand Outs in Second Debate

Like the first debate, there were no real defining moments for any of the candidates in the second showing.

As moderators struggled to maintain control, there were moments where candidates could not be understood as various participants attempted to talk over each other.

“It was a little flat today,” former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said on Fox Business immediately after the debate.
