Biden made the comments about US-China relations during a press conference in Hiroshima, where he attended the Group of Seven summit.
President Joe Biden predicts a “thaw” in relations between the US and China after tensions soared following multiple events, including the US shooting down a Chinese spy balloon flying over the country earlier this year.
“And then this silly balloon that was carrying two freight cars’ worth of spying equipment was flying over the United States, and it got shot down, and everything changed in terms of talking to one another. I think you’re going to see that begin to thaw very shortly,” Biden said.
Tensions reached a high after the balloon incident after escalating during the pandemic over economics, Taiwan, and China’s partnership with Russia during its invasion of Ukraine.
Despite China not backing down on any of these issues, Biden and the G7 leaders seemed to want to appease China.
“We’re not looking to decouple from China, we’re looking to de-risk and diversify our relationship with China,” they said.
They also said that due to Beijing’s “role in the international community and the size of its economy” the G7 “stand prepared to build constructive and stable relations with China.”
“Our policy approaches are not designed to harm China nor do we seek to thwart China’s economic progress and development. A growing China that plays by international rules would be of global interest,” the statement continues.
However, at the same time the joint statement was released, China’s government told its critical infrastructure operators to cease buying products from Micron Technology Inc, the biggest US memory chipmaker.
China accused Micron’s products of having “serious network security risks” that could affect China’s national security.
The Associated Press describes the move as an escalation in Beijing’s feud with Washington over technology and security. It also portrayed US-Chinese relations as “at their lowest level in decades”.
Hes IN ON Balloon scam
Once again money talks but there are still some who say a fully loaded data-seeking-intelligence balloon is not to be readily ignored but appropriately shot down as timely ordered and carried out.
The most dangerous balloon facing this administration is on the shoulders of our president, aka, CIC (Coprolite in Chief). Fortunately, it’s what prevents him from collapsing to the floor.
For the idiots, which are downplaying of flying Chinese balloons, in today’s high technology satellites, I would like to explain, that satellite is over the target for less than 5 minutes, time over target is known and could be camouflaged and radio silenced. Balloon litters over target for hours and anything what is listening and taken the pictures of, is immediately transferred to commanding centre without storing anything in memory as prove of spying, in case it is shot down.
